When you’re preparing for the Algebra 2 Regents exam, it can be difficult to know where to begin. Luckily, we’ve done the hard work for you! This 30-day Algebra 2 Regents study guide covers everything you need to know to pass the Algebra 2 Regents exam.
We’ve studied released Algebra 2 Regents exams to craft a detailed study calendar. Treat this calendar like your own personal Regents cheat sheet. It tells you what to study, how to study, and even how long to study.
Before you dive in, take time to get familiar with the study techniques we’ll be asking you to use throughout this month-long study plan.
What We Review
Algebra 2 Regents Study Techniques
Okay, you know you need to study for the Algebra 2 Regents exam. But what exactly does that mean?
You don’t need to spend time memorizing math formulas. Fortunately, those will be included in your Algebra 2 Regents reference sheet.
You do need to practice the skills, vocabulary, and concepts that are assessed on the exam. How can you make this happen? Our Algebra 2 study guide includes six different study techniques to help you prepare for exam day.
Keep reading to learn the BEST Algebra 2 Regents study tips.
1. Build a flashcard deck to practice your Algebra 2 Regents vocabulary.
If you’ve read our Algebra 2 Regents Study Tips and Things to Remember, you know that vocabulary is an essential part of the Algebra 2 Regents exam. So, we recommend using flashcards to build your recall ability and get familiar with the most important terms on the Algebra 2 Regents exam.
You can choose to use an online flashcard deck or a simple set of index cards. All you need to do is write the target term or phrase on one side of the card and the definition or example on the other.
To help yourself memorize the terms, go through your deck multiple times in each study session. Look at the side with the term and see if you can recall the information on the other side. Then, flip the card over to see if you’ve got it right.
Pro Tip: When you go through your flashcard deck, put cards you get correct in one pile and cards you miss in another pile. Spend extra time reviewing the “incorrect” pile to memorize those tricky terms.
2. Focus on skill building with Algebra 2 practice problems.
When it comes to the Algebra 2 Regents, a cheat sheet of things to remember isn’t enough. You also need to know how to perform certain skills in order to solve problems.
Spending time practicing target Algebra 2 skills will set you up for success on the Regents exam. In our Algebra 2 Regents study guide, we’ve highlighted topics you can practice on Albert. You’ll get instant feedback and detailed explanations for each question.
If you don’t have access to Albert, don’t worry! You can also use the practice problems from any Algebra 2 textbook or check out the alternative resources we’ve linked in the plan below.
3. Take topic quizzes to find your strengths and weaknesses.
Our Algebra 2 Regents study plan integrates topic quizzes to help you find out what you’ve mastered and where you need to spend extra time.
Another benefit to quizzes is that they can help build your confidence and stamina in taking assessments. The Algebra 2 Regents is a lengthy exam, so it’s important to get comfortable with math tests.
Our guide includes links to Regents-aligned topic quizzes from Albert. These quizzes are automatically graded and include detailed question explanations. Alternatively, you can use the quizzes in any Algebra 2 textbook or reach out to a teacher for old quizzes they might have available.
4. Prepare for exam day with full-length practice exams.
We know this might not be your favorite study technique, but one of the best forms of Algebra 2 Regents practice is taking full-length practice exams that mimic the Algebra 2 Regents as closely as possible.
The New York State Education Department website lets you print old released exams. The website also includes scoring guides and rubrics so that you can grade your work.
If you’d rather take the test online to get instant feedback and explanations, you can check out Albert’s library of Regents practice exams, too!
5. Refresh your memory with Algebra 2 Regents review.
There are TONS of things to remember for the Algebra 2 Regents exam. Take the time to review concepts and skills as part of your exam preparation.
You can go over notes you took in Algebra 2 class, re-read pages from your Algebra 2 textbook, or check out the online resources that we’ve linked in our Algebra 2 Regents study guide. In any case, make sure you’re giving the resources you use your full attention.
6. Complete CRQ practice problems to get familiar with constructed responses.
Almost half of the credits on the Algebra 2 Regents exam come from constructed response questions in Parts II, III, and IV of the exam. Incorporate CRQ practice problems into your Algebra 2 Regents review to get comfortable answering these questions.
On the days when you’ll be completing CRQ practice problems, we’ve included links to relevant CRQs from released Algebra 2 Regents exams. Complete the CRQs on a piece of scratch paper and then download the relevant rubrics and model response sets to check your work!
Remember, you can get partial credit on CRQ problems. With practice, you’ll learn how to incorporate the diagrams, models, and equations that can help maximize your score.
