Subject Organization

Digital and Media Literacy is organized by content themes and further broken down into topics. Each theme is based on one of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards for Students.

Themes

  • Knowledge Constructor: Researching and Evaluating Sources
  • Innovative Designer: Problem-Solving with Technology
  • Creative Communicator: Using Technology to Communicate
  • Global Collaborator: Using Technology to Broaden Perspectives

Topics

Each theme contains four topics. For example, here are the topics within Digital Citizenship: Using the Internet Responsibly.

  • Respecting Intellectual Property
  • Maintaining Digital Privacy

Assessments

In addition to our practice guide, Digital and Media Literacy includes Topic Quizzes that include questions unique from those on our practice guide. These quizzes follow the same structure as the Practice Guide, and provide students an opportunity to demonstrate their learning after each unit.

Using Standards and Tags to Find Questions

Standards

All Albert questions are aligned to state standards relevant to the subject matter. Digital and Media Literacy is aligned to the International Society for Technology in Education Standard for Students.
This standards alignment provides another easy way to find useful questions besides the Theme and Topic organization. Using the Standards button at the top left corner of any subject page, you can filter for just your state’s standard set then simply search for your state’s standards to find all questions in our course library aligned to that standard! For more details, please see this article in our Help section.
In addition to searching by the standards’ names, you can also search by their content! Simply type in a few words from the standard description to see all relevant standards pertaining to that content.

Tags

Albert’s Digital and Media Literacy course includes two types of tags: skills and content. These are words or phrases that provide information about what a question covers, such as inference or curating-information. Tags provide another easy way to search for relevant content in our course library. Simply search using the Tags button at the top left corner of any guide level.

Question Types

Digital and Media Literacy uses 5 question types to test students’ understanding of content and provide meaningful practice of important skills.
