Subject Organization

Albert's LEAP 2025 Algebra I course is organized into themes and further broken into short, formative assessments on specific topics.

Themes

Our full LEAP 2025 Algebra I subject guide includes 4 themes that align with the different types of tasks on the exam:
  • Major Content (Type I)
  • Additional & Supporting Content (Type I)
  • Expressing Mathematical Reasoning (Type II)
  • Modeling & Application (Type III)

Topic Quizzes

Within the Major Content (Type I) and Additional & Supporting Content (Type I) themes, you'll find short, formative topic quizzes. Each topic quiz is designed to be given in a single class period. The quiz questions mimic the rigor and format of the actual exam and include only Type I questions. For example, here are some topic quizzes within the Major Content (Type I) theme:
  • Topic Quiz | Understand and Evaluate Functions
  • Topic Quiz | Graphs and Key Features of Linear Functions
  • Topic Quiz | Graphs and Key Features of Quadratic Functions
  • Topic Quiz | Graphs and Key Features of Exponential Functions

Free Response Questions

Within the Expressing Mathematical Reasoning (Type II) and Modeling & Application (Type III) themes, you'll find free response questions (sometimes called "constructed response" questions) that mirror the Type II and Type III tasks on the Louisiana Educational Assessment Program (LEAP) 2025 Algebra I Assessment. For example, here are some free response questions within the Expressing Mathematical Reasoning (Type II) theme:
  • Reasoning Rational and Irrational Numbers
  • Transformations of Functions with Quadratics
  • Chains of Reasoning with Quadratics

Using Standards and Tags to Find Questions

Standards

Every question is aligned to the standards outlined in the Louisiana Student Standards for Mathematics (LSSM) or the LEAP 2025 Evidence Statements. Each standard begins with the state abbreviation LA.
You can find questions aligned to learning standards using our standards search tool. In the Standards drop-down at the top of the Assessments tab, you can search for standards by name (for example, LA A1: F-IF.A.2) or description. When you type in characters that match one of the standards, the drop-down will populate with matching standards.

Tags

In addition to standards, each question is assigned one or more tags to help differentiate between the wide variety of questions we offer. LEAP 2025 Algebra I questions include content-related tags, such as "rate-of-change" or "domain", as well as tags that specify whether or not the question allows a calculator.
To search for a tag, click the Tags drop-down within the subject and enter the tag or content you're searching for in the search bar.
For more help on finding questions using standards and tags, visit our Help Center.

Question Types

LEAP 2025 Algebra I uses 7 question types to provide students with a variety of practice that mimics the actual exam. These question types include:
  • Multiple Choice
  • Multiple Select
  • Two-Way Tables
  • Fill-in-the-blank
  • Free Entry
  • Free Response
  • Graphing

Calculator Use

Students are permitted to use a Desmos graphing calculator or scientific calculator on some (not all) sections of the LEAP 2025 math exams.
Albert's LEAP 2025 Algebra I course clarifies calculator use for each question in three ways:
  • Question title: questions will have either "(Calculator Allowed)" or "(No Calculator)" in the title.
  • Question prompt: all LEAP 2025 math prompts will state whether a calculator is allowed or not.
  • Question tag: to easily filter questions, all of Albert's LEAP 2025 math questions are tagged with either "calculator-allowed" or "no-calculator."
