Subject Organization

Albert's LEAP 2025 English I course is organized into themes and further broken into short, formative assessments on specific topics.

Themes

Our full LEAP 2025 English I subject guide includes 2 themes that align with the different reading and writing tasks on the exam:
  • Reading Quizzes
  • Prose Constructed Response

Reading Quizzes

Within each theme, you'll find short, formative reading quizzes. Each topic quiz is designed to be given in a single class period. The quiz questions mimic the rigor and format of the actual exam. For example, here are some reading quizzes:
  • Reading Quiz: LAT | To An Athlete Dying Young & Out, Out
  • Reading Quiz: NWT | Desiree's Baby
  • Reading Quiz: RST | Freedom or Death & Speech on Women’s Suffrage, June 17, 1911
  • Reading Quiz: Literary Texts | Their Eyes Were Watching God

Prose Constructed Response Questions

The course contains Prose Constructed Response questions for each task on the exam: Literary Analysis Task, Narrative Writing Task, and Research Simulation Task.
The passages for the Literary Analysis Task, the Narrative Writing Task, and the Research Simulation Task are the same as the passages used for the corresponding reading quizzes in the course, so you can easily pair the reading questions with the written response.

Using Standards to Find Questions

Standards

Every question is aligned to the standards outlined in the Louisiana Student Standards for English Language Arts. Each standard begins with the state abbreviation LA.
You can find questions aligned to learning standards using our standards search tool. In the Standards drop-down at the top of the Assessments tab, you can search for standards by name (for example, LA RI.9-10.1) or description. When you type in characters that match one of the standards, the drop-down will populate with matching standards.

LEAP 2025 English I uses a variety of question types to test students’ understanding of content and provide meaningful practice of important skills.
  • Multiple Choice
