Subject Organization
Albert's NJSLA ELA Grade 7 ELA course is organized into themes and further broken into short, formative assessments on specific topics.
Themes
Our full NJSLA Grade 7 ELA subject guide includes 2 themes that align with the different reading and writing tasks on the exam:
- Reading Quizzes

Reading Quizzes
Within each theme, you'll find short, formative reading quizzes. Each topic quiz is designed to be given in a single class period. The quiz questions mimic the rigor and format of the actual exam. For example, here are some reading quizzes:

Prose Constructed Response Questions
The course contains Prose Constructed Response questions for the Literary Analysis Task, Research Simulation Tasks, and the Narrative Writing Task.
The passages for the Literary Analysis Task, Research Simulation Tasks, and the Narrative Writing Task are the same as the passages used for the corresponding reading quizzes in the course, so you can easily pair the reading questions with the written response.
Using Standards to Find Questions
Standards
Every question is aligned to the standards outlined in the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for English Language Arts for Grade 7. Each standard begins with the state abbreviation NJ.
You can find questions aligned to learning standards using our standards search tool. In the Standards drop-down at the top of the Assessments tab, you can search for standards by name (for example, NJ RL.7.1) or description. When you type in characters that match one of the standards, the drop-down will populate with matching standards.
