Subject Organization

Spelling Bee is organized by content themes and further broken down into topics. Each theme is conveniently divided into five different spelling lists, categorized alphabetically. As you move from the local theme to the Olympic theme, the difficulty of the words increases.

Topics

Each theme is organized alphabetically into 5 topics. For example, here are the topics with in the Regional Spelling Bee theme:

Question Types

Spelling Bee uses a free entry question type to test students’ understanding of content and provide meaningful practice of important skills This question type requires students to directly answer the correct spelling of a word based on the recording provided in the question prompt:
